    Trust and credit

    Attribution and provenance

Every important artifact and revision should say where it came from.

These docs explain the product in plain language. Binding contributor, privacy, payment and other legal terms control if there is a conflict.

    What Betabace records

    • Who made the contribution and in which role.
    • When it was captured, submitted, reviewed and published.
    • Which source files and earlier versions it derives from.
    • What was changed and why.
    • Its licence, review state and confidence where relevant.

    Founding credit and current credit

Founding credit recognises the person who first made a useful form of a contribution available on Betabace. Current credit identifies the contribution presently used in the experience.

A founding scanner can therefore remain part of the history while a newer, more accurate model becomes the default view.

    Corrections do not erase people

Corrections create a traceable revision. They should not silently overwrite provenance, and ordinary mistakes should not be treated as misconduct.
