Creator rewards
How creator rewards should work
Reward measurable contribution value while keeping core climbing knowledge broadly accessible.
These docs explain the product in plain language. Binding contributor, privacy, payment and other legal terms control if there is a conflict.
Credit does not guarantee payment
Every accepted contribution can receive attribution. Payment requires separate eligibility and depends on the rewards programme active at the time.
Betabace should not promise a permanent royalty merely for being the first person to upload a popular climb.
Ways contributors may be rewarded
- Direct creator revenue from tips, premium beta or specialised media.
- Bounties for missing areas, priority scans or difficult verification work.
- A contribution pool funded from eligible subscription revenue.
- Non-cash benefits such as processing credits, premium access and higher capture limits.
- Community grants for access work and strategically valuable coverage.
What should create value
- Original work that is actually used.
- Verified quality and completeness.
- Unique coverage, especially where knowledge is missing.
- Ongoing maintenance and corrections.
- Qualified engagement such as route saves and meaningful beta use—not raw page views alone.
Programme changes
Reward formulas may need to change as storage, processing, fraud and payment costs become known. Changes should be published before they apply and should never rewrite already finalised payouts.
The current documentation states product principles, not a promise that a particular contribution will generate income.
