    Safety and governance

    Safety, access and sensitive places

Climbing information should never come at the expense of people, access or the environment.

These docs explain the product in plain language. Binding contributor, privacy, payment and other legal terms control if there is a conflict.

A guide is not a safety guarantee

Rock changes, holds break and conditions vary. Betabace information and beta are descriptive, not a certification that a climb, landing or movement is safe.

Do not publish by default when

    • The landowner or local community asks that a location remain private.
    • Publication could threaten access, cultural heritage, wildlife or sensitive habitat.
    • The contribution exposes precise personal location or identifiable people without a proper basis.
    • The route is closed, prohibited or would encourage trespass.
    • You are unsure whether a copied guide, topo or model can legally be submitted.

    Local stewardship matters

Betabace should give trusted local stewards tools to hide precise coordinates, display seasonal closures, flag outdated conditions and escalate access-sensitive disputes.

When discovery and access protection conflict, Betabace should favour protecting continued access.
