Content rights and licences
The practical difference between factual data, original media and Betabace's permission to operate the service.
These docs explain the product in plain language. Binding contributor, privacy, payment and other legal terms control if there is a conflict.
What contributors keep
Contributors should retain ownership of copyrightable original media they create, such as photographs, video, narration and qualifying scan or model files.
What Betabace needs
To operate the product, Betabace needs a sufficiently broad licence to store, process, transform, optimise, display, distribute and, where applicable, monetise submitted material. The binding contributor terms must define that licence precisely.
What contributors promise
- They created the material or have permission to submit it.
- The submission does not knowingly violate another person's privacy or intellectual-property rights.
- Sources and collaborators are credited accurately.
- Restrictions or uncertainty are disclosed instead of concealed.
Documentation versus legal terms
This page explains the intended product model in plain language. It is not a substitute for contributor terms, privacy terms or any other binding agreement presented when material is uploaded.
The contributor licence and database-licensing strategy are working drafts and require professional legal review before public contributor monetisation launches.
