Contributing
How to contribute
Add a new climb, improve an existing record or publish original beta.
These docs explain the product in plain language. Binding contributor, privacy, payment and other legal terms control if there is a conflict.
Before creating a route
- Search the immediate area and nearby routes to avoid duplicates.
- Confirm that sharing the location is compatible with local access rules and climbing ethics.
- Use your own capture or material you are authorised to submit.
- Record uncertainty honestly instead of filling unknown fields with guesses.
Choose the smallest useful contribution
You do not need to finish an entire route page alone. A precise access correction or verified route line can be more valuable than a large incomplete upload.
When a route already exists, add to that record. Betabace keeps your individual contribution visible within the shared history.
After submission
- Automated checks look for missing files, impossible coordinates and obvious duplicates.
- Community or local review may be required before sensitive or uncertain information is public.
- Accepted contributions receive permanent provenance even when later versions replace what is currently displayed.
